The Health Care Center is a full-service medical clinic with on-site patient X-Ray and Test Lab. If you need a blood test or x-ray, you can complete it here.

Health Education Classes

Transportation

The Health Care Center works closely with the Los Alamitos Medical Center. We provide complimentary transportation to the medical center campus in Los Alamitos seven times a day, five times a week.

Los Alamitos is now a paid parking facility. To avoid paying for parking, take our free shuttle, or buy a discount parking pass at our Administration office.

Pharmacy

Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Monday through Friday

With our "One-stop shop" pharmacy, you won’t even need to leave the gates of our community to pick up your medication, herbal remedy, or drug store item. We also carry snacks and gift items, as well as medical equipment including wheelchairs and walkers.

Our pharmacists are happy to help accommodate any patients with special needs. We offer a prescription delivery service to residents with mobility problems, and can provide free consultations to members who need help understanding their medication schedules or prescriptions.

We are certified to perform Jobst stocking fittings.

Eye Care

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday

Our comprehensive eye care facility focuses on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of eye problems. Our team includes board-certified ophthalmologists and optometrists who can evaluate you for contact lenses and eyeglasses, and share with you an assortment of frames.

For your convenience The Health Care Center also has a retinal specialist who can administer regular injections to treat macular degeneration.

Physical Therapy

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday

Our physical therapy team will treat any resident or shareholder with a referral from their doctor.

Our team can help you cope with and recover from the following disorders and injuries:

  • Joint pain
  • Muscular or skeletal injuries
  • Neurological disorders including Parkinson’s disease
  • Post-polio disorder
  • Peripheral and central nerve damage
  • Amputation
  • Pain from arthritis
  • Natural changes caused by aging

We also provide free assessments for walking aids, including canes and walkers, on the first Friday of every month at our Physical Therapy facility.

Support Groups

Many of our patients suffer from chronic disorders or experience the impact of another’s medical care. The Health Care Center offers support groups to community members in need where they can discuss how they feel and learn new coping methods.

Breast Cancer Patients & Survivors
Dr. Mary Sherman, a breast cancer survivor, leads this support group for breast cancer patients and survivors which meets every first Thursday of the month from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Support for Diabetics
Attendees meet the first Friday of every month at 11:00 a.m. at The Health Care Center to discuss the challenges diabetics face and how to overcome them.

Alzheimer’s Caretakers
Attendees discuss the hardships experienced by caretakers of Alzheimer’s patients and share support. Meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. at The Health Care Center.

Laughing for the Health of it
Attendees use the healing power of laughter to cope with emotional disorders. Meets every second Wednesday of the Month from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
